Lightspeed Parent Portal
With the addition of Lightspeed Classroom, and soon Lightspeed Digital Insight, we are also now utilizing the Lightspeed Parent Portal in our district. Parents who have their email address listed under "Parent/Guardian #1" as well as "Parent/Guardian #2" in FinalForms on the "Contact Information" form will be automatically emailed weekly web filter activity reports every Sunday for their students. With this parent portal account, you will be able to view your student's web activity, and control certain aspects of the filter during after school hours use. This parent portal will also automatically display senate bill 29 notices for notices concerning the Lightspeed classroom system that our teachers utilize.
What the Email Looks Like
The email will have a "Log In or Register" button at the bottom of the email. You'll want to click that to create an account using the email address that you were sent the email to originally.

Create Your Lightspeed Parent Portal Account
Once you click the "Log In or Register" button, you'll be brought to this page, where you'll want to click the "Create Account" tab to get started.
What the Lightspeed Parent Portal Looks Like
Once you have created an account, then you can choose your student from the dropdown, and optionally configure web rules for after school hours, or view your student's web activity log. Note that these steps are optional. The default district rules will remain intact regardless if anything is configured here or not. This just allows you to further block what we allow. We have not made any major changes to the categories that we have been allowing and blocking recently.
Lightspeed Parent Portal SB 29 Notices
The Event log below is where you will find all of the senate bill 29 (SB 29) parent notices that are generated from our Lightspeed Classroom service. Lightspeed Classroom allows our teachers to monitor their student's Chromebooks to make sure that the entire class is on task. LightSpeed Classroom screen monitoring is restricted to only being used while the device is on school grounds and during school hours. A few screenshots of Lightspeed Classroom from the teacher's perspective are shown below to give you a better understanding of the tool.
Lightspeed Classroom Teacher's View
An example of the teacher view is below. The teachers can view thumbnail views of their student's screens, and apply additional web filter rules during their class to further restrict the filter, or they can change the web filter rules back to the default district rules.
The teachers can also lock and unlock student screens if student's are not using their device properly, and send a link to the entire class at once to get everyone where they need to be quickly and efficiently.
